Illinois Natural History Survey

Since 1858, the Illinois Natural History Survey, a division of the Prairie Research Institute, has been the guardian and recorder of the biological resources of Illinois— the state’s biological memory. With a staff of over 200 scientists and technicians, it is recognized as the premier natural history survey in the nation.

Informatics Programs

Informatics has an interdisciplinary research, education, and community engagement mission that spans the entire campus. They support and encourage research projects and education programs that involve applications of computing and information in areas from the natural sciences, engineering, and business to the humanities and social sciences.

Health Care Engineering Systems Center

The Health Care Engineering Systems Center (HCESC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign provides clinical immersion and fosters collaboration between engineers and physicians. They design collaborative solutions to improve health care outcomes utilizing our expertise in simulation technologies, smart health systems, data analytics, human factors, and medical robotics.

Materials Research Laboratory

The Materials Research Lab (MRL) fosters interdisciplinary research at the forefront of materials science by bringing together world-class faculty, staff, postdocs, students, and industry in materials science, condensed matter physics, and materials chemistry in a highly-collaborative, progressive research environment.
