Elevating Support

I usually use this space to highlight new awards, exciting projects, or progress on strategic initiatives. Today, however, I'd like to highlight a different kind of "win" for the campus research community: a new role in the OVCRI to help scholars meet their research integrity responsibilities. I'm delighted to announce that Jennifer Hardesty has joined the OVCRI to serve as Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Faculty Fellow.

The research ecosystem is complex, and research activities—particularly those funded by the federal government—are highly regulated. Faculty, staff, and students are required to understand, and adhere to, standards of conduct that also grow and change. Delivering and monitoring that training is a big job: there are over 800 agreements that require RCR education, collectively representing over $770M in funded awards! Dr. Hardesty will work closely with OVCRI leadership and with our Research Integrity Officer, Christopher Lehmann, to add capacity to our office and to enhance RCR training for members of the Illinois research community.

Please join me in welcoming Jen to the OVCRI!

Sincerely,

Susan
