Dr. Jennifer Hardesty, a professor of Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, has joined the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation as the University's inaugural Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Faculty Fellow.

Dr. Hardesty will work closely with OVCRI leadership and our Research Integrity Officer (RIO), Dr. Christopher Lehmann, to enhance campus research integrity and ethics training. She will also work with the RIO to address concerns of research misconduct.

"All of our faculty, staff, and students have RCR responsibilities, and federal training requirements continue to expand," said Susan Martinis, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. "We are delighted to welcome Professor Hardesty to our office as we pursue additional ways to support our research community."

Prof. Hardesty, who joined Illinois in 2003, is an expert on the causes of intimate partner and domestic violence, and ways to mitigate its impact. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and her master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She extended her training as a National Institute of Mental Health postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Her research has received support from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Institute of Justice. She joins other three other faculty members currently serving as OVCRI fellows: Erik McDuffie, Brenda Wilson, and Shaowen Wang.
