Scholarly Commons Brown Bag Workshop - Text Analysis Methods and Tools (Critical Digital Humanities@Illinois)

This workshop will provide an introduction to text analysis in humanities research. It will cover the kinds of research questions that can be addressed through text analysis, how to pick a text analysis method or tool, and basic skills for getting started with text analysis research. Some time will be devoted to a text analysis project jointly supported by the University of Illinois and Indiana University, the HathiTrust Research Center. The workshop will be led by Eleanor Dickson.

Eleanor Dickson is the Visiting HathiTrust Research Center Digital Humanities Specialist in the Main Library. She facilitates training and outreach for the HathiTrust Research Center, a collaborative project to enable large-scale text analysis of the HathiTrust Digital Library. Additionally, she support digital humanities scholarship at Illinois through consultations and workshops in the library’s Scholarly Commons.
