Center for Education in Small Urban Communities

The Center for Education in Small Urban Communities serves as a vital resource to local school districts and educators. The center works collaboratively with local education agencies to create sustainable improvement in education. The core focus of the Center is to collaboratively plan and sustain long-term, job-embedded professional learning experiences for teachers. The center partners with local schools to conduct research on these collaborative efforts in order to further understanding what works and to explore ways to grow such efforts.

Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies

The Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies (CEAPS) is the steward of campus-wide teaching, research, programming, and outreach on East Asia, as well as Southeast Asia and the Pacific. CEAPS serves almost 100 affiliate specialists in East Asia, as well as over 30 off-campus affiliates across the state. CEAPS strives to broadly support the research, teaching, and service missions of the University of Illinois.

Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment

The Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment (CREA) is located in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is an interdisciplinary endeavor that brings researchers together from across the College and University, as well as domestic and international research partners, to address the growing need for policy-relevant studies that take seriously the influences of cultural norms, practices, and expectations in the design, implementation, and evaluation of social and educational interventions.

Center for Children's Books

The Center for Children’s Books at the School of Information Sciences is a research center with additional interests in education and service. Their mission is to facilitate the creation and dissemination of exemplary and progressive research and scholarship related to youth-focused resources, literature, and librarianship.

The Center for African Studies’ educational mission is especially vital in today’s emerging global age, a time that promises greater international cooperation and interdependence. The center brings together a group of people from across campus and beyond this university who have a common interest in Africa. With this shared commitment, as well as diverse training and research interests, the center provides a rich and vibrant environment for research, training, and educational programs.

The Center for Advanced Study sheds light on interdisciplinary thought that starts a conversation, inspires action, and transforms the world. From hard science and engineering to humanities and the arts, CAS works with every department on campus to provide high-achieving faculty the support, connections, and funding to make it happen.
