Info Session on NEH Fellowships

Information Session for Faculty - Sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research

National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships

Please join us for an information session:
Friday, January 27th
12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
500 Swanlund Administration Building

Panelists for the session are among the recent NEH Fellowship recipients on our campus: Cara Finnegan (Communication), Erik S. McDuffie (African American Studies; History), and Derrick R. Spires (English). They will share their experiences with the fellowship application and submission process.

Craig Koslofsky (History), Chair, External Grants Faculty Advising – Humanities, Arts, and Related Fields, and Maria Gillombardo, External Funding Coordinator - OVCR, will summarize application-related information. Carol Symes (History; Medieval Studies), also a recent NEH Fellowship recipient, will join in her role as OVCR External Grants Faculty Advisor for the humanities. Copies of successful proposals will be available at the session.

Discussion and session materials will focus on the Fellowship, but we will also provide information on other NEH competitions, including Collaborative Research and Digital Humanities grants and Summer Seminars and Institutes. Please see below for links to these and other program webpages.

Craig, Carol, and Maria will also be facilitating proposal writing groups and will share details at the session. You do not need to attend this session to participate in a writing group, and you are welcome to join at any stage of the application and writing process. We are also glad to work with faculty individually on applications.  Please contact Maria for more information (

The Fellowship application deadline is April 12th.

(NEH set this deadline earlier than it has in the past.)

Please RSVP to Kelley Frazier: or 333-6771
If you are interested but cannot attend, please contact Kelley so we can provide you with materials.
