Celebrating The Odyssey Project

From kid-focused summer camps to thought-provoking lectures, programming in our many research centers and institutes offers a unique connection between the research enterprise and the broader community. One of the premier examples of this is HRI's Odyssey Project. The program, which is celebrating 15 years of learning, engagement, and community support, offers college-credit courses in the humanities for income-eligible adults. Students learn critical thinking, writing, and public speaking skills, and earn course credit in LAS. More than 150 students have participated in the Odyssey Project since its inception, and alumni report improved financial stability, writing skills, civic engagement—and perhaps my favorite outcome, improved feelings of empowerment and hope. Humanities skills transform lives.

In celebration of the 15th anniversary, HRI is hosting 15 Days of Giving, starting tomorrow. Please consider sharing information about this effort with your networks, and join me in helping to spread the word about this wonderful program!

Sincerely,

Susan
