The Illinois and Colorado team includes UIUC biochemistry professors Beth Stadtmueller and Nicholas Wu; chemistry professors Wilfred van der Donk and Angad Mehta; and Jenna Guthmiller, assistant professor of immunology and microbiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Researchers at UIUC have been awarded $9.5M from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to study how to prevent viruses from spreading among animals and humans. The team includes Beth Stadtmueller, Nicholas Wu, Wilfred van der Donk, Angad Mehta, and others.
