Advancing Research, Technology, and Clinical Treatments in Health Care
Overview
The Mayo Clinic and Illinois Strategic Alliance for Technology-Based Healthcare was organized in 2010 to advance research, technology, and clinical treatment options in health care. The alliance is a framework for collaboration in individualized medicine and involves innovative educational programs to train next-generation clinicians and biomedical scientists; integrated research activities and projects, focused on information-based medicine, genomics, and point-of-care diagnostics; and entrepreneurial modes to ensure full deployment and commercialization of educational and research outcomes
This partnership is overseen by the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute.

Research Opportunities
Seed grants funded by the Mayo Clinic and Illinois Alliance have generated opportunities in cancer, GI disease, data visualization, biomarker discovery, epigenomics, pharmacogenomics, and neuroscience. These opportunities are currently organized in three themes: Microbiome Research, Devices and Detection, and Computational and Genomic Medicine.
