On Another Subject....

Last week, our local newspaper, the News Gazette, featured a story about our campus research community, but from the perspective of a research subject. A reporter wrote about his participation in a study (led by Sepideh Sadaghiani) that is advancing our understanding of brain function. It was an enjoyable read!

There are hundreds of similar studies on campus every year, and community members can help researchers understand how older adults perceive a robot designed for the home...The connection between the mind, the body, and exercise... How toddlers develop language skills... The relationship between prolonged sitting and how adults think... Walnuts, the gut microbiome, and health... Alcohol's social, cognitive, and emotional effects... And on, and on!

Uncovering new insights (like Susan Aguiñaga's recent findings related to Latin dance lessons and working memory) requires a diverse pool of research participants. Consider joining a study if you meet project criteria—and if you don't, the next time you hear about an interesting project, please consider helping to spread the word.

Sincerely,

Susan
